The VNRT is the Dutch association of Reflexologists.

Our basic standards include anatomy, physiology, pathology, basic counseling, basic nutrition and vitamins, wholistic view, theory of reflexology, 50 hours of practical reflexology lessons and 50 hours of client treatment (1 client at least 5 treatments).

2. The name of your association includes "reflex zone therapy." Does this mean that the interests of the association extend beyond hands and feet?

Our name is Vereniging van Nederlandse Reflexzonetherapeuten (VNRT). Direct translation into English: Association of Dutch Reflexologists. We have members who are trained in hand and feet and members who are also trained in body reflexology.

3. Who belongs to the association?

Only qualified reflexologists and student reflexologists at Reflexology schools we work with, can be a member of the VNRT. We get our members from those schools and from elsewhere. We are an organization for professional reflexologists only., some part-time, others full time. Some have been trained before as nurses, physical therapists, pedicurists and other disciplines in the complementary filed. Other members are just trained as reflexologists.

Schools don't register as members, but we do work together with nine schools who subscribe to our curriculum.

Last year the VNRT merged with another organization. We are trying to link with another organization to make one big strong body.

4. Does the association have monthly meetings? Is a program presented?

We have two member meetings a year plus one congress day a year. The VNRT has been "divided" in 5 districts. Each district organizes two days a year for her members. We also try to organize seminars given by foreign reflexologists, like Dwight Byers and yourself.

Programs are always presented by via our VNRT magazine that appears six times a year.

10. How can someone subscribe to the Association newsletter?

By subscription. For members it comes with the membership. Up till now the newsletter was mainly sent to members. In the near future we will try to organize so we will mail it to a larger group, so also nonmembers will get to know us.

Our Association is a member of a larger umbrella organization called the Dutch Organization of Associations of Complementary Therapists who are working towards gaining recognition from the government and insurance companies. This organization is called in Dutch: NOVAG, Nederlandse Organisatie voor Verenigingen voor Alternatieve Genezers>

The VNRT is also a member of ICR.

We also have contact with of the foreign reflexology organizations in order to exchange knowledge and information (experiences). We are in favor to get together on national, continental and worldwide level.
